About this programme

Street Talk is an NZTA approved interactive Advanced Drivers Education programme for students for students wishing to improve their driving skills and to make them more aware of actual driving hazards presented to them from the time they get behind the wheel of their car.

It also reduces the time those who are on their Restricted Driver License to have the Restricted time reduced from 18 months to 12 months.

What you will learn

The course provides defensive driving knowledge and skills to new entrants to the Graduated Driver Licensing system and current drivers in line with the Safer Systems in Practice programme including identification of potential driving hazards, and risk reduction and avoidance techniques to reduce the likelihood of being involved in a road traffic crash.

The knowledge gained will enable the driver to:

  • Identify Potential and Actual hazards

  • Deal with their own well being factors in a positive way

  • Enable a change in attitude from negative to positive thoughts

  • Remain a safe and confident driver

This course will help the student gain the required skills to pass the practical, Full Class 1 Drivers Test.

Workload

Course consists of 8 hours theory instruction and a 1 hour practical coaching and assessment session.

Entry requirements

Must hold a minimum of a Class 1 Learners License
